    Thanksgiving Plunge

What a blessing it was to deliver food this weekend. Randy and I had bags of food to deliver to a women in one of the half mile apartment complexes.

Saturday afternoon after packing groceries at church, I headed to Crown Pointe and rang the security bell two times. No one responded to let me in the main building so I headed home. Our family tried again Sunday morning to deliver the care packages, however, had the same response.

Randy and I went back later on Sunday afternoon and no one responded after two rings. A gentleman who lives in the same apartment building arrived at his apartment when we were just leaving so we opted to enter the building when he opened the security door. Looking back, it was the Lord's plan to have the gentleman let us in since no one was responding to the doorbell rings.

When we reached the Apartment there were notes on the door "Do not to enter", "beware of dog" and basically stay away. We kindly knocked on the door and heard someone from inside ask us who we were. We indicated that we were from Central Wesleyan Church to deliver some food for Thanksgiving. Her response was "you must have the wrong apartment." When we verified we were in the right place, she opened the door and let us into her small world. She shared how she was low on groceries so our timing was perfect. We shared conversation and learned a little bit about her past. We asked her if we can pray for her in a specific way and she shared how she suffers from depression, mental illness and other health concerns. She shared how the life she use to live was built on drugs and promiscuity and how Satan keeps tempting her. I asked her if she had a bible (yes). We talked about how being a Christian the one in us is greater than the one in the world. At the end of the meeting, the three of us stood - arm in arm - praying to the Lord who cares for each one of us. What a blessing it was to lift her before the Lord.

God can open any doors. Central, thank you for the opportunity to deliver the Thanksgiving food and bless those in the community.

    With grateful hearts -
    Randy & Carla Walters
