    Bedtime Snacks Project

My PLUNGE project was putting together “Bedtime Snack Bags” for children who are at the Family Mission on Fairbanks. We had 16 people (including children) who helped put together 90 bags. After the bags were done we loaded them into volunteers' cars to deliver after we finished at Lakeside Vista, where we handed out carnations to residents who don’t have visitors very often. Several in our group had the opportunity to pray with some of the residents. I know God used us to bring some of His light into their day! The topic of conversation with my oldest granddaughter, Taylor (6), was “why did the man have a hole in his throat and why did he put his finger over the hole to talk?" Don’t you love children and their questions?

When we dropped off bags at the Family Mission, one of the staff members gave us a quick tour so that the children who helped put the bags together could get a better visual of what the mission looks like. The staff on duty Saturday asked that we be sure to thank the CWC staff and volunteers for caring so beautifully and practically for those in need in our community! Our intern Staci led the “Care Bags” project (bright colored bags, and tissue paper) that contained personal grooming items given to women when they come to the Center for Women in Transition. Staci and I delivered them today and they asked us to be sure to thank everyone at Central for caring and reaching out to those in need. We included individual written cards in each bag.

I ran errands on Saturday afternoon and ran into several people with their PLUNGE shirts on and several who stopped me because they saw my PLUNGE shirt on and wanted to say they served too! I love the shirts. What a great way to share with people who ask “what is the PLUNGE?” We came together and God blessed!
