On the second Saturday of each month, 20+ Central Wesleyan volunteers gather at 9 a.m. to pray for the 65+ Breakfast with Baby families. Mothers from seven months pregnant to having children up to one year old come toting babies, car seats, diaper bags, children and family members. Each month families can expect the Gospel to be communicated, a hot breakfast served and baby items shared.
You may already know that at Breakfast with Baby each family receives a pack of diapers and wipes, so we need 65+ packs of diapers each month. We need volunteers to work in the kitchen, sit and talk with families and more.
However, you may not know that Breakfast with Baby volunteers have supported families in custody cases, are often present for the birth of children, help empower families to help themselves, have led BWB folks to Christ, have provided Christmas trees to families, and pick up BWB families for Sunday church.
Below is a letter a volunteer shared recently:
I truly enjoyed being present at the appreciation dinner tonight for Breakfast with Baby. I can feel God's presence and see it in this ministry, and definitely in the hearts of the volunteers and dream team of this ministry. Through the night the Spirit kept revealing to me how gracefully and lovingly BWB sets an example for the community of believers God calls us to embody. They are all so sensitive to the needs of the families and how to serve and develop relationships with them. They are the neighbors that we are called to be, knowing one another, being there in those times of need and wearing the hope that lies ahead for the families who enter the doors each month. I continue to envision the growth of this ministry and sense how impactful this group is and will grow to be, even more so in our community. And I believe in my heart that BWB is anointed in such huge ways by the Lord. It gives me goose bumps and teary eyes to envision what is ahead for this group.
This letter communicates that over the last 3 years, Breakfast with Baby has proven to be life-changing for both our families and volunteers. The people of Central Wesleyan show unconditional love to the families on a monthly basis. Thank you for providing an environment where the Breakfast with Baby families feel safe and accepted. The family who drives from Grand Rapids each month does not come just for diapers—but rather for the love they feel when they walk through our doors.
Please consider getting involved in Breakfast with Baby by volunteering on a Saturday morning or simply providing a pack of diapers each month.
