    Barnabas Ministries

Last night, in the gym of CWC, a beautiful thing took place.

Two teams from the Barnabas basketball league played their first game of the season. Young men from VanRaalte Tech in Holland and the Hillcrest team from Hudsonville had an opportunity that would not otherwise be afforded to them: playing organized basketball in a League.

A bunch of fans, most from the Holland community, came and watched the game. I was blessed to observe one mother say many times “That’s my boy!”, realizing that without the partnership of Barnabas, the League, and Central Wesleyan, she would not have opportunity to watch her son play ball. This same mother was one of a few saying “amen” at the end of the pre-game prayer.

I have no doubt that most of the fans (at one point there were nearly 50 of them) have never been to Central. Most are not connected to any church.  Yet all felt welcome on our campus, and enjoyed a great time of cheering for their favorite player.

Thank you for making CWC a place to truly build relationship with some beautiful people who often feel marginalized by our community.

Thank you for partnering with Barnabas and so many other ministries, strengthening ties, and opening doors for the church to reach out in our community.

    Grateful for you,
