CWC people are awesome!
Recently I had the honor of accepting a certificate of appreciation from Holland Public Schools. CWC has made a significant impact on the students and staff of Holland Public Schools - so much of an impact, that rather than simply being sent the certificate through the mail, I was able to humbly accept it on behalf of our staff, church, and volunteers at the HPS monthly School Board Meeting. It was a pleasure to stand before them and THANK THEM for the opportunity to serve them and share WHY we do what we do, to tell them we care about them and understand how important a strong school system is to our community, to explain to them that SERVING is vital to our spiritual faith and to let them know we are here to be the church outside the church. One of the board members shared how much of a “blessing” we were to them and I jumped at the chance to describe how we are the ones blessed through blessing them. When I received the certificate, I asked them to imagine 80 people walking with me.
I was able to share a quick story with them of a high school student responding this past August to a need for help getting HPS buildings ready for the start of the year. She put a facebook event together to recruit other students to help. This is just one example of the importance of serving.
Thank you for doing what you do. Thank you for encouraging our folks to seek opportunities to serve. Thank you for providing opportunities for our folks to grow in ALL areas of our spiritual faith.
How we've been involved:
June: 55+ people responded to cleaning up flood damage.
August: 50+ people helped move boxes, desks, and cleaned in four buildings to get ready for open houses. One person responded to an immediate need for additional help. CWC folks generously donated 160+ backpacks and school supplies to four schools. The women and girls of a CWC small group sorted, counted, and delivered school supplies to the four schools.
September: Individuals, families, and small groups adopted a Jefferson teacher, gave a gift and committed to prayer and support throughout the year. Kids Hope provided a welcome gift to each teacher in the building. One person responded to a need of painting some bathroom stalls that had graffiti.
October and beyond: I can’t wait to see how God uses CWC!
