At work in the Community
I am a social worker in the community and just wanted to pass on a note of encouragement to you from one of my clients in a Half Mile apartment complex. I was asking her about positive social supports in her life and if her kids were going to be involved in any summer programs of any sort. She was quick to tell me about a kid's program at Central that she thought she might bring her daughter to (I figured out it was VBS) this week and how a group of people from the church came by recently to tell her about it. She described these people as "the nicest and most caring and geniune people she's met." She went on to talk about how she and her mom attended Central years ago and how she really liked it because the people were so nice and real, and they did so much for the community. She even mentioned that she and her husband may start attending there. I was so encouraged by this knowing what I know about their history. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that Central is impacting this community in ways that you don't always get to see or hear about...so I thought I'd pass it on. :) I love that volunteers are reaching out to that community and whether or not they realize it, people are taking notice and are responding in one way or another. That group from Central who met her obviously showed her "something" that she was drawn to. Please tell them thank you and to keep up the great work!
