    Skill Ministry Update

    S.K.I.L.L

(Showing Kindness In Labors of Love)

It's been over three years now since SKILL Ministry began its home
repair ministry at Central Wesleyan Church and 86 volunteers have signed
up to lend a helping hand to those in need.

In the past three years volunteers have helped with removing carpet &
pad from a home where the child had asthma, and raking the yard of a
single lady with health issues. A light has been moved and the
electrical repaired, as well as a bathroom fan fixed so cold air no
longer comes in to make that bathroom unusable in the winter. Painting
has been done for the elderly and single mom with no time, talent, or
ability to get it done. Plumbing has been fixed. Electrical problems
have been solved. Drywall has been patched & repainted. A bathroom has
been created where there were only bare walls and no ceiling. Floors
have been replaced and the list goes on and on. Above all doors have
been opened to minister to the hurting as well as share the gospel in a
new and fresh way. So many requests have come in, but there are many
volunteers to help with those requests. God is so good in providing his
people with the talents and abilities to help others without those
    abilities.

At this time SKILL has a total of 132 volunteers on its roster. God is
so good! Some of the volunteers have not been called in a while and we
just want to thank you for being willing to continue being available to
help when a project requires your particular skills. There have been
more than 132 different requests filled and more being filled every day.

We'd like to share just one of many "thank-you's" SKILL
Ministry has received from requestors in the past year.

"Thank you so much for thinking about me and bringing such wonderful
people here to clean up my yard. You are gems! All of the efforts
given not only completely blessed me, but also have opened several doors
(some quite unexpected) for me to share the love of Jesus and His
church. Thank you so much for all you do and have done for Jesus. You
are loved!! God bless you (and heal your achy bodies!)"

It's such a joy to sit across the table from a single mom who is
struggling to make ends meet and let her know that there is help for
her. Tears flow when the struggle is made known. Where there is
usually the stoic ability to keep everything going, the tears come when
the end is seen, and the help is given. Praise God the help is there!

Thank you to all the volunteers who go willingly when called for the
two or three hours it takes to make a major change in another person's
life. We are not all called to a mission field across the seas, but
some are called to give of their talents in their own "back yard"!

If you are feeling God's call to be of help * Please pick up a
brochure at the Adult Ministry kiosk. Fill out the card and leave it at
the information desk or call 395-3705 to have the volunteer forms sent
    to you.

If SKILL Ministry can be of help and you are single, elderly, or
financially challenged, please call 395-3705 and we will return your
    call as soon as possible.

    In His Service,
    Rog & Dori Wiersma
