    Best Christmas Gift Ever

Over the last few years Central has had a ministry of teaching English to some employees of local Chinese restaurants. The week before Christmas my family decided that we wanted to have some direct ministry with these Chinese immigrants as we approached this important Christian holiday. We knew there would be some problems in trying to serve someone considering the language, cultural and religious barriers.

We decided that we would give the restaurant employees a gift of a fruit basket that we would prepare. (Fruit in the winter season is a wonderful gift in the Chinese culture.) We added a simple Christmas card and wrote a brief message of hope and our prayers for them. On Christmas Eve we took the basket to the restaurant and when our food was served we gave them our gift to them.

They were at a loss for words to share how they felt, but their faces said a lot that we would think of them. We had not let the barriers hold us back from serving and sharing God's love. (The day after Christmas the family from the restaurant visited us at our home to say thank you more formally.) One of our family members said that this was the best Christmas gift this year.
